Tim Tebow Sound FX Week 14 HD Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow mic’d up Tim Tebow Time

The Gospel According to Tim (Kindle Single)

What’s there left to say about Tim Tebow? He’s brilliant and appalling, inspiring and annoying–a straightforward young man who somehow played and prayed his way into being the most enigmatic figure in American sports.

In the essay-length Kindle Single “The Gospel According to Tim,” Joseph Bottum argues that Tebow strikes a nerve because he has slipped beyond all the usual categories of our wink-and-nudge culture of irony. And he’s done that mostly by being simply who he is: not a football-playing theologian but, in essence, a mystic:

“Isn’t that what everyone who has met Tebow does? Believe in him, I mean: believe that he’s for real. The young man is drunk on charity, in the same way he’s drunk on the endorphins that race through his body during his strenuous daily workouts. In the same way he’s drunk on the excitement of winning and losing football games before roaring crowds. In the same way he’s drunk on what the medieval mystics used to call “the gift of tears,” weeping easily and often. In the same way he’s drunk on his constant conversation with the Lord, referring all his victories and all his losses up to heaven.

“Tim Tebow isn’t a Christian theologian. He’s a Christian mystic — intoxicated, as all mystics are, with God. He’s King David, dancing in the joy of his youth before the Ark of the Covenant.”

Joseph Bottum, a writer in the Black Hills, is the author of the bestselling Kindle Single “Dakota Christmas.” He is, the essayist Andrew Ferguson has written, “one of America’s most gifted writers, with a perfect ear and a matchless style.”

Tim Tebow is truly the nicest guy in the NFL. I’m sure he is one of those athletes that underrate themselves and do not overrate themselves. He is a character, if only more people were like this….

tramaine1981 says:

as a Christian I’m glad to see that Tim Tebow keeps your mind open to another perspective. We may disagree on spirituality but at least you and I see the kind of good persona that Tebow displays…it’s inspiring.

tonajki says:

it’s not Tebow that keeps my mind open, it is me. :) otherwise I agree!

FleetingWispsOfGlory says:

Not a Bronco’s fan, I’m not particulaly religious and I don’t agree with his political views but he seems like such a genuine, positive guy its’s hard not to like him.

Since haters are always complaining about how he praises for wins, I want you to find me a video of him doing that haha you’ll never find one cause he prays for strength for him and his team mates, never to win.

fuck elway!!! #shittedontebow

LordBenne says:

Tebow’s QB skills are awful, but he’s such a great person I can’t hate him at all. Unlike many of the evangelicals who grate on us, he actually walks the talk, lets his actions speak for themselves, and is nothing but humble. Almost like he actually read the Bible and actually followed Jesus’ teachings to love his enemies. It’s just disarming how sincere he is.

godzillaizbeast2004 says:

if i had kids i would want them to look up to tebow instead of these football players who get arested for drugs

peachy931 says:

if manning gets hurt, elway will have to enter the witness protection program!! Go Jets!!

Knaack233 says:

this just puts a smile on my face

mrbradthomas3 says:

Pray that you will be lead to God through the Holy Spirit. Jesus Loves You and he died for you. God Bless man. :)

tonajki says:

:)
Thank you for your kind wishes, I honestly appreciate it!

However, I forfeited my right to be dead for. I’ll die for myself when the time comes and accept whatever may come after it. I’d much rather lead through example and look back at a happy, whole life I lead without ever intentionally hurting others. I think the principle is the same :)

ijohnist says:

Tebow I know You’ll do good in New York in the Name of Jesus.

maximstar1 says:

Great respect for this kid. He has heart and leadership qualities. Other skills will improve with time and experience. All the best with the Jets

mrbradthomas3 says:

But just please look into Christianity, it’s really good. I don’t want to force you to Christianity, because that’s not up to me, but up to God and the Holy Spirit. Try to go to a good Bible-based Church, and try to really see how God’s love is amazing. I pray that God Blesses you, and the Holy Spirit leads you to Jesus Christ. God Bless :)

mrbradthomas3 says:

Because God Loves you and sent his only Son JESUS CHRIST to die for you. God Bless :)

tonajki says:

I was raised a christian and it was my choice to abandon my religion. I will not ask you to look into atheism, as I think one’s beliefs are a deeply personal issue and they shouldn’t be forced, put on show or brokered. I understand you only want to do me good, but please, respect my decision not to get involved with religion of any organized sorts. I wish you good luck and a happy life.
